Inasmuch Community Homes

Do you have a vacant room, suite, holiday house, or Airbnb? Consider renting it to Refugee Claimants through Inasmuch Community Homes program.

How does it work?

All Refugee Claimants have been fully vetted by government officials and deemed safe to enter the country. Fleeing violence and trauma, they often arrive without family, connections, or material goods. You can prevent homelessness by providing a safe, welcoming home to those who would have nowhere else to turn.

As a Community Host, you will receive training from Inasmuch. You will then get the opportunity to meet your potential renters to check for fit. Once they move in, we provide support, guidance and check-ins as needed.

In many cases, the hosts and the Claimants become great friends. You can teach them about Canadian culture and help them adapt. As you spend time together, there is often delicious food involved!

Refugee Claimants are resilient, highly motivated and hard working. They are willing to do what it takes to thrive in Canada. Most cannot afford market rate rentals when they arrive. However, they do receive a rental portion from Income Assistance that helps cover some costs until they are able to get work permits and find jobs.
